Eureka!!! We found it!!!

One of the nice things about RV travel, with no schedule, like we often do, is that we make a decision which way to go when we get to the crossroads.

Grants Pass is one of those crossroads. We knew we were going to make it there because we called our friends, on the cell phone, the morning we were leaving "7 Feathers". We found out that our old friends Darlene and Deanne were still in Grants Pass.

They were leaving to return to Bend, Oregon after lunch. So we arranged a meeting place for lunch in Grants Passand. We had a delighful time with them and continued to talk about the "miracle" of how we had run into each other after 16 years.

After lunch we asked them to "pray for us" which they did in a way (right in the middle of the parking lot of Sharri's restaraunt under a beautiful rainbow) that only people in the prophetic ministry areas would understand. (grin)

Then we made our decision to turn right at Grants Pass and take the California Coastal route through Crescent City and the Redwoods for the next couple of days.

It rained all the way through Southern Oregon after we left Grants Pass, and just began clearing when we got to Crescent City. It was a beautiful drive, but slow, and winding. We stopped a couple of times to let Coco and Caren have a little fresh air, and a little walk. (They both get car sick on winding roads.)
We arrived in Crescent City a little too early to stay the night. I planned on staying here but we decided to push on ahead.

We took the scenic old road south of Crescent City. We had hoped to see the elk herds at Prarie Creek State Park, (one of our favorite places on earth) but the sun had just set. We couldn't see much, and they usually are near the road in the morning and migrate over to the coast in the evening.

We drove on toward Eureka. In Arcata we stopped at a store for provisions. I saw a Chinese Seafood Buffet. Caren doesn't like and hates the smell of sea food, so she encouraged me to go ahead and enjoy it by myself while she picked up some things she liked at the store.
With her encouragement I went in and ate enough to feed a small village in China. It was great. Not only did they have Sushi, they had Chinese, seafood, and mongolian... all you could eat..... hmm....burb....

Eureka is the principal port between San Francisco and Portland so the seafood was fresh and good. Eureka has some beautiful Victorian Homes.

After dinner I was walking Coco and I asked a local fellow if there was a super Walmart in Eureka. He proudly told me there is "NO Walmart anywhere in Humboldt County, we keep them out!".
I asked him "So you have plenty of marijuana in Homboldt County but no Walmarts?" He said, that right, plenty of marijuana, but not one Walmart!
It is a interesting breed of person who lives in the Eureka area.

I did see a sign for an Indian Casino in Loleta, just south of Eureka, so that is where we ended up spending the night. We played a little, and then settled in for a good night sleep.

We are looking forward to a whole day of being in the Redwoods tomorrow.
